Our handmade matcha bowls, also known as Chawan, are beautiful and unique pieces. They are traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony to prepare and drink matcha, a highly valued green tea powder.
When preparing matcha, the Chawan plays an essential role. Its wide and deep shape allows tea and hot water to be whisked vigorously using a bamboo whisk called a "chasen". This creates a light, creamy foam, giving matcha its characteristic texture and delicious taste.
